No, this isn’t a grandiose pronouncement on the contemporary state of declining literacy, but rather a short post to show off the finished library in my house, which I’ve been working on throughout much this year. A few months ago, I wrote a detailed ‘how to’ post describing how I built the library by adapting Ikea Billy Bookcases, and now that I’ve finally finished painting it, I thought I’d update you with some pics.

There are still a few tweaks to be made. I have a shaggy white rug arriving soon, which will bring some extra softness into the room. And I have a rule that the only art on display in the house is by female artists, so the painting on the chimney breast (which is by Ramon Casas, depicting ‘A Decadent Young Woman, After the Ball’) is going to be replaced by Beatrix Whistler’s ‘Girl Resting on a Sofa’. But, other than that, it’s pretty much done!
